Two Delaware County projects receive state funding [The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y. :: ]

(Daily Star, The (Oneonta, NY) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 22--Two projects in Delaware County were included in $5.9 million in economic funding for seven projects approved by Empire State Development's Board of Directors.

The Regional Economic Development Council award included $250,000 for the MARK Project. It will expand the Small Business Development Fund the organization created for the town of Margaretville following Hurricane Irene, to the towns of Roxbury and Andes. It will enable the organization to continue to award grants and loans to small businesses to rebuild a sustainable economy on rural main streets.

The Board approved a $750,000 Economic Development Fund grant for the The Delaware County Industrial Development Agency. It will be used for a portion of the cost to construct a natural gas distribution line from the proposed Constitution Pipeline to Amphenol Corporation's existing facility at 40-60 Delaware Avenue, as well as the new manufacturing facility to be constructed at 171 Delaware Avenue.

Through the projects "we are creating and retaining more than 1,000 jobs in Upstate New York," Governor Andrew Cuomo said.

"Working with the business community, the state is leveraging significant private investments -- $87 million with this round of funding alone -- to help grow regional economies." ___ (c)2014 The Daily Star (Oneonta, N.Y.)
