Vocera Launches Collaboration Suite for Smartphones at HIMSS14

(Thomson Reuters ONE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Vocera Launches Collaboration Suite for Smartphones at HIMSS14 Customer-influenced Design Features Integrated Voice and Secure Texting; Turnkey Smartphone Deployment Kit for Protecting, Charging and Managing Mobile Devices SAN JOSE, Calif. and ORLANDO, Fla. - February 24, 2014 - Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VCRA), the leading provider of integrated, intelligent communication solutions for mission-critical mobile environments, today announced the launch of its new Vocera Collaboration Suite at the HIMSS14 Annual Conference and Exposition (booth #5751).

Vocera Collaboration Suite is the industry's only HIPAA-compliant voice and secure texting smartphone application that features call by role, group, and broadcast capabilities, and integrates with over 50 clinical systems. The solution offers intelligent communication on iOS(TM) and Android(TM) devices whether inside or outside of the hospital. In conjunction with the Collaboration Suite, Vocera offers a turnkey smartphone deployment and management kit that includes an extended battery pack, a docking station for storage and charging, and a Mobile Device Management (MDM) application for smartphone management.

Reading Hospital, in West Reading, Pennsylvania tested and helped optimize the user experience for the Vocera Collaboration Suite to improve communication between physicians and the Electronic Health Record (EHR), following the hospital's recent implementation of its Epic EHR system.

"Reading Health System has been a Vocera customer since 2008 and we have partnered with the company to help solve our clinical communication and workflow challenges," said Jorge Scheirer, MD & CMIO, Reading Health System. "We integrated Vocera Collaboration Suite with Epic, and are leveraging Vocera's on- call scheduling to send inpatient consultation requests to the appropriate covering physician, with an auditable trail. In addition, we are equipping our Care Managers (RNs) with Vocera installed iPhones® that connect them to our medical staff." Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, Massachusetts conducted a comprehensive pilot program for the new solution to not only instantly connect clinicians with each other and the hospital's alerts/alarms systems, but also to help them make the right decisions based on the context of the communication.

"Vocera has a history of serving the healthcare industry and used that knowledge to assist us with this critical initiative for the Medical Center," said Bill Shickolovich, CIO of Tufts Medical Center. "Together we developed a broader communications platform strategy. In addition to integrating with our clinical systems and instantly connecting our care teams, Vocera's smartphone application will give us communication in context, with built-in intelligence so that our caregivers can make the right decisions at the right time." "We developed the Vocera Collaboration Suite based on direct input from our hospital customers. They are looking for solutions that offer both voice and secure texting functionality, tight integration with other clinical and communication systems, and the ability to securely store, charge and manage the devices," said Brent Lang, president & CEO of Vocera. "We believe the Vocera Collaboration Suite addresses all of these requirements, offering one of the most comprehensive smartphone solutions for clinical environments."
