TalkingShop ; Eon Visual Media managing director Matt Dass highlights interactive print opportunities [Hull Daily Mail (England)]

(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) INTERACTIVE print - the practice of linking printed media to online content via a smart device, such as a phone or tablet, is starting to move out of the margins to become a major aspect of retail marketing strategy.

Apps such as our own SmartPicture, which leverages Digimarc technology, can be used to scan logos, pictures and other graphics on print literature to point the user towards a rich world of online content, which includes e-commerce sites, product information, videos and social media.

The technology frees brands up from having to produce mountains of printed literature - often given away, lost or damaged - when instead they can link their customers directly to in-depth mobile content by way of a quick scan.

It is here, we believe, the interactive print revolution can help put smaller and independent retailers on a similar footing with the high street giants.

As the cost of creating digital assets decreases and more small businesses embrace social media, creating a large online footprint has never been so easy and cost-effective.

By printing less, but more effectively - that is linking it with online via an app such as SmartPicture - smaller retailers can make their marketing budget go much further.
