TCL%7EP Elects New Board Chair and Vice Chair [Global Data Point](Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) John Taylor, who has served as the vice-chairman for the past two years, was elected chairman, Jan Geht was elected vice-chairman, and Tim Arends, TCL%7EP's Executive Director, was re-elected secretary of the Board. Each will serve a one-year term. Geht was also reappointed by the City Commission on March 17, 2014 to serve a five year term on the TCL%7EP Board. "Having a citizen-owned electric utility is a huge asset that affords Traverse City many opportunities, not least of which is local control and accountability," said Taylor, TCL%7EP Board Chairman. "I look forward to working with the board and staff in the coming year as we implement our recently approved strategic plan. We'll also be focused on the successful execution of several major reliability projects, and determining the utility's energy supply future. It promises to be a busy year." Taylor has been on the TCL%7EP Board since 2010 and has extensive background in energy efficiency and smart grid. Taylor is a Principal Manager for a consortium of energy organizations in the U.S. and Canada, where he serves as their liaison to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. Taylor also serves on the Board of SEEDS, a solutions-focused environmental non-profit organization. He has masters degrees in Economics and Policy from Duke University. He and his family live in the Central neighborhood of Traverse City. Geht has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Truman State University, a masters degree in taxation from University of Illinois, and a law degree from University of Michigan. He has experience in tax law, litigation, estate planning, and business transactions. Currently he practices law with Bowerman, Bowden, Ford, Clulo %7E Luyt, P.C. in Traverse City.
