Dr. Cankaya will deliver his presentation on May 8 from 4:15PM to 5:30PM MST at North 121 A-B, Phoenix Convention Center - North Building.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is attracting widespread attention and investment because it has the potential to virtualize and simplify network operations, which would help utilities meet present demands and future challenges. In describing how utilities communications networks can be designed with SDN in mind, Dr. Cankaya will discuss how this design can also lay the groundwork for utilities' implementations of Smart Grid networks.


Dr. Cankaya is a Solutions Architect at Fujitsu Network Communications. He is responsible for developing advanced networking solutions for a wide variety of Fujitsu customers. Dr. Cankaya is an active contributor to the Migration Working Group with the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), which is dedicated to the promotion and adoption of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) through open standards development. His participation in the ONF gives Dr. Cankaya insight into the most successful SDN implementations, which informs Fujitsu customers of suitable migration strategies toward SDN. Dr. Cankaya is also an adjunct professor of computer science and Telecom Program in electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University.
