EMCO Software Releases an Improved Version of Its EMCO Ping Monitor Software

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 EMCO Software, a leading provider of network monitoring solutions for Windows networks, has announced the availability of a new version of EMCO Ping Monitor. EMCO Ping Monitor is a Windows application designed to track statuses of network connections to network hosts. The new version of the application includes features that allow integrating Ping Monitor with other applications to then inform the administrator about the connection status changes.

EMCO Ping Monitor can be used by network administrators and IT staff to track the availability of network hosts, including computers, network printers, routers and other devices that support the ICMP protocol. The application sends ping requests to the monitored hosts on a regular basis and analyzes the ping replies to detect the state of the connections. The application can work simultaneously with multiple hosts. The latest version of the application is optimized to support up to 1000 hosts when running on a modern multi-core PC with at least 4 GB RAM.

When a defined number of pings fail in a row, EMCO Ping Monitor registers an outage of the monitored host. The outage can be reported in a number of ways, for example, the application can highlight the host in the UI, or show an outage message in the Windows Tray, or play a certain sound and send an e-mail. The new version of EMCO Ping Monitor also allows executing a custom action in case a connection is lost or restored.

Network administrators can use executable files and scripts as custom actions. It is possible to use the same or different executable files and scripts as handlers of different events. For example, it is possible to register one script when a connection is lost and another script when a connection is restored. EMCO Ping Monitor can pass the details of the event to executed actions in form of command-line parameters. Using custom actions, network administrators can integrate EMCO Ping Monitor with other Windows applications. In this case, EMCO Ping Monitor can be used as an application that detects connection changes to pass this information to other applications. A good example of such integration is SMS-sending software, so network administrators can integrate EMCO Ping Monitor that detects connection state changes with SMS-sending software that delivers SMS notifications.

"The new version of EMCO Ping Monitor can notify a user in a number of ways, and using custom actions it is possible to easily integrate the application with any existing notification system that supports the Windows platform", Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.

Pricing and Availability EMCO Ping Monitor is available in two editions. The Free edition is free for personal and commercial usage. It allows monitoring up to 5 network connections. The Professional edition is commercial software that allows monitoring an unlimited number of network connections. Both editions can be downloaded without registration at http://emcosoftware.com/ping-monitor. A license for the Professional edition costs $49 for one copy of the application.
