Modernizing Medicine's Director of Mobile Development, Mihai Fonoage, Named One of South Florida Business Journal's '40 Under 40'

BOCA RATON, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Modernizing Medicine, Inc., creator of the Electronic Medical Assistant® (EMA (News - Alert)™), announced that Mihai Fonoage, Director of Mobile Development, has been named one of South Florida Business Journal's (SFBJ) '40 Under 40' exemplary young executives for 2014. Fonoage follows co-founders Daniel Cane and Dr. Michael Sherling, who made the "40 Under 40" list in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

As Modernizing Medicine's first employee, Mr. Fonoage has played a crucial role in Modernizing Medicine's development over the past four years. EMA already functioned as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) solution when Mr. Fonoage joined the company, but it was his mobile development prowess that helped bring the founders' vision of an iPad-based electronic medical record (EMR) system to fruition. After helping to develop the company's seven specialty offerings, Mr. Fonoage is now leading the development of schEMA, a powered by Watson prototype application built to aid physicians with an expert source of evidence-based data that they can use to inform their treatment recommendations.

"We're thrilled Mihai received this prestigious recognition and to see him named among the ranks of other impressive area professionals," said Daniel Cane, CEO and co-founder of Modernizng Medicine. "The work he does for our company is invaluable and, without his expertise, we wouldn't have been able to launch EMA in seven specialties on such an accelerated timeline. We're proud and honored to have him on our team."

Modernizing Medicine serves nearly 4,000 providers across the nation who have used EMA in over 10 million patient encounters. Furthermore, Modernizing Medicine's data-driven, specialty-specific EMR system can help physicians in surgical specialties achieve better treatment outcomes and better business results for their practices. To date, about 25 percent of the entire U.S. dermatology market has adopted the platform.

Regularly engaging with the technology community outside of his work with Modernizing Medicine, Mr. Fonoage belongs to a number of professional organizations, including Scrum Alliance, Mobile Technology Consortium and Mobile Monday Miami. In addition, he has been invited to speak at a number of industry events.

This tremendous achievement follows on the heels of Modernizing Medicine's recent award wins, including SFBJ's 'Fast 50' in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Details about the '40 Under 40' and the full list of honorees are available on the South Florida Business Journal's website.
