Speaker for involving all students with IT


(United News of Bangladesh Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Rangpur, July 12 (UNB) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday stressed expanding the IT use involving every student of the country in this age of globalization and free flow of information.



"We'll have to reach information technology services to the doorsteps of people to turn Bangladesh into a digital country bringing the world closer further," she told a function at Pirganj upazila.

The Speaker said Bangladesh would turn into a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041. "Bangladesh is marching forward with that aim." Prime Minister's Information Technology (IT) Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy also attended the function chaired by Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui.


The Speaker inaugurated computer labs, WiFi connectivity and Teletalk 3G in three schools there supported by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).

Addressing another function at Pirganj High School playground, Dr Shirin said all would have to work together for bringing smiles to the faces of those neglected in society.

"We'll have to build developed and enriched Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty by taking marginalised people forward," she said.

The Speaker laid emphasis on balanced development reducing the gap between the rich and poor in the country.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, among others, spoke at the function held with State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam in the chair.
