Group CBS Named Exclusive United States Distributor for IntelliSAW Wireless Condition Monitoring Systems for Electrical Switchgear

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Addison, Texas (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 Group CBS, Inc.(GroupCBS.com), with commercial interests in electrical supply, field service, and engineering across the United States, has entered into an exclusive master distributor agreement for the U.S. with IntelliSAW, a leading provider of next-generation wireless temperature, humidity and soon-to-be-released partial discharge (PD) monitoring systems for all power applications.

Under the agreement, Group CBS and its network of electrical equipment distributors and field sales companies will be responsible for selling and integrating the IntelliSAW systems into new and existing switchgear, including repair and life-extension projects, throughout the U.S.

IntelliSAW's proprietary wireless condition monitoring solution for electrical switchgear and related equipment utilizes Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor technology that does not require any external power supply, easing installation and system commissioning without adding to arcing and flashover concerns. These smart grid wireless temperature and humidity monitoring solutions use standard industrial Ethernet variants and native RS485 data protocols such as Modbus to provide instantaneous monitoring and control to remote monitoring stations. IntelliSAW PD monitoring systems will soon be available.

Designed for harsh industrial and utility applications, IntelliSAW's wireless condition monitoring systems will modernize every facet of the electric power delivery system -- including generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption -- and improve reliability at all key critical load locations, such as bus duct, transformers, and switchgear. In addition to their application in new switchgear, IntelliSAW systems can be easily integrated into existing critical assets to significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of the electrical grid, helping to avoid blackouts and equipment failures.

IntelliSAW's IS485 wireless condition monitoring platform brings an advanced feature to the market compared to competing solutions, including 12 independent sensor frequencies and four antenna connections per reader that, when combined, can accommodate up to 48 sensors per system. Advances in interrogation protocols, differential sensor topology, and microcontroller architecture lift IntelliSAW above competing solutions that suffer from sensor drop-out, challenging system set-up processes, positional dependence of sensor calibration, and non-compliance in high-voltage application environments.

"Group CBS has been a leader in electrical innovation as proven by our recent introductions of the electrical industry's only predictive field test system for vacuum interrupters, smartphone- and tablet-based vibration analysis systems for electrical maintenance, remote racking and switching solutions, and magnetic-latching circuit breakers that are guaranteed for up to 30,000 operations," said Finley Ledbetter, CEO and chief scientist for Group CBS. "Group CBS, including our affiliate companies, is excited to bring IntelliSAW's smart grid monitoring solutions to our North American customers in the utilities, manufacturing, and process industry markets."
