Samsung Gear S smartwatch sports a 3G modem of its own [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) While other companies are focusing on Android Wear platform, Samsung still wants to prove they can stand alone by the launch of their Tizen based Gear S smartwatch. The unique feature of Gear S is it has a 2G/3G module of its own. This means the watch can make calls and go online without the need of any handset to assist.

Other features include a 2-inch curved AMOLED screen, dual-core 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS/GLONASS. The battery is at 300mAh capacity. Additionally, there is a heart rate monitor and a motion sensor with Samsung apps including S Health. The Gear S carries the IP67 water and dust resistance certified badge.

Furthermore, Samsung let loose a new Bluetooth headset accessory called the Gear Circle. It can pair with your handset for calls, music and initiate voice commands. The Gear Circle can hold around your neck with magnetic locks and vibrate during an incoming call or notification trigger. Music listening can last up to 11 hours. Samsung says the Gear S and the Gear Circle will be available in the month of October.
