TierPoint Launching New Dallas-Based Cloud Services

ST. LOUIS --(Business Wire)--

TierPoint, a leading national provider of colocation, cloud and managed services, has announced the deployment of its new cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering in Dallas. Referred to as TierPoint Cloud v2.0, the Dallas-based cloud will be available nationally and is being added to cloud deployments already active in the company's Oklahoma and Pacific Northwest data centers, connected by TierPoint's 10G network. For its Cloud v2.0, TierPoint has teamed up with leading enterprise cloud infrastructure providers including VMware, Cisco, NetApp and Fortinet (News - Alert). The new cloud solution will be available in private, public and hybrid configurations that combine colocation with cloud computing. TierPoint's cloud portfolio also includes Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) which can enable organizations to meet their critical uptime needs without investing in hardware and internal staff time.

"TierPoint's Cloud v2.0 is a highly customizable solution that provides organizations the computing resources they need, in the way they need them," sad Jeremy Pope, TierPoint's General Manager in Dallas. "We've found that some colocation customers are reluctant to jump into cloud-based services because of uncertainty about such issues as security, control and cost to convert. With our IaaS cloud solution, customers have the advantage of TierPoint's experienced engineering team who will not only assess and address those concerns, but also create a customized solution and continue to work with the customer during and after deployment to ensure success. Our hybrid cloud solutions combine the best of both worlds, with colocation and cloud augmenting each other, providing the ability to scale to need, while potentially eliminating underutilized or unnecessary IT resources," said Pope.

TierPoint's Cloud v2.0 is a VMware-based vCloud solution that will run on Cisco's (News - Alert) UCS compute infrastructure allowing for greater flexibility and scalability than other platforms. Enhanced firewalls will be provided by Fortinet's FortiGate platform, which can further provide value-add security services such as web content filtering, application control, intrusion detection and prevention, and data leak prevention. For storage, TierPoint has chosen NetApp's Cluster ONTAP storage solution, which provides industry recognized enterprise capabilities.

"Our product engineering team did an excellent job in designing an enterprise-grade cloud solution that is affordable to organizations of all sizes," said Pope. "We have partnered with the best cloud infrastructure providers in the business and our customers will benefit from one of the most reliable, flexible and secure cloud solutions on the market," said Pope. TierPoint has already signed and is installing the first TierPoint Cloud v2.0 customer, Womack Machine, based in Farmers Branch, TX.
