Social Intelligence Presents Social Media Identity Science Capabilities at the Intelligence and National Security Alliance Innovators' Showcase

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Social Intelligence, the leading provider of social media risk assessment solutions and predictive analytics, announced today that it presented at the Intelligence and National Security Alliance's (INSA) 2014 Innovators' Showcase.

Project Manager, Matthew McLaughlin, and Vice President of Government Solutions, Adam Lurie, presented the abstract, Identity Intelligence in Online Data and Social Media. The research, which outlines a new approach to using social media and publicly available online content to enhance identity intelligence, demonstrates how the science of Big Data is being leveraged to reinforce National Security in the areas of security clearance background investigations and other intelligence gathering processes.

"Innovators' Showcase is one of the unique ways INSA brings the private sector, academia and government agencies together to collaborate on intelligence solutions," said INSA President Ambassador Joseph R. DeTrani. "We are so pleased that Social Intelligence, like many INSA membe organizations, took advantage of the opportunity to submit an abstract, and that their hard work and initiative were rewarded with a presentation before a distinguished panel of government scientists, technologists and engineers."

The INSA Innovators' Showcase has been hosted in collaboration with the Directorate of Science & Technology in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and other U.S. intelligence agencies, since 2010. The exhibition provides a unique forum for academics, and both private and public-private enterprises to present their innovative research and development initiatives.

The Showcase has previously hosted scientists, engineers, and technologists from numerous government agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Defense Intelligence (Agency), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), National Security Agency (News - Alert) (NSA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (USDI), as well as Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

"Given the enormous volume and variety of unstructured data on the web, and the velocity with which it is generated, establishing confident identity resolution analytics is one of the largest challenges confronting private sector and government agencies" said Geoffrey Andrews, COO of Social Intelligence. "We're honored to have the opportunity to present our findings on how to increase the confidence, accuracy and validity of identity authentication analytics leveraging social media and publicly available online content."
