IndependenceIT Named "Vendor to Watch" by Enterprise Management Associates for Superior Workspace-as-a-Service Software Solution

IndependenceIT (News - Alert), an integrated workspace automation software platform provider allowing IT departments, service providers, and ISVs to easily deliver workspaces, applications, and desktops as a service (DaaS), today announced that the company has been named a Vendor to Watch by Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading industry analyst firm that provides insight on IT management technologies.

EMA's (News - Alert) Vendors to Watch recognizes companies that deliver unique customer value by solving problems that had previously gone unaddressed or provide value in innovative ways. The designation rewards vendors that dare to go off the beaten path and have defined their own market niches. The EMA analyst report, titled "IndependenceIT: Key Value Proposition," notes that the release earlier this year of 4.1 of Cloud Workspace Suite, IndependenceIT's flagship offering, brought a number of new features to the platform, including workflow automation and Microsoft (News - Alert) RemoteApp management. In addition, the report notes that IndependenceIT now offers enhanced support for vCloud Air and vCloud Director, which enables centralized provisioning and management directly from the Cloud Workspace Suite® console, and allows users to create and manage multi-tenant, session-based workspaces in a variety of cloud environments.

The integration allows administrators to traverse multiple virtual infrastructures, allowing user, policy, and workflow management across multiple virtual infrastructure resources, including data, networking, security, and availability. "This delivers a unified management experience for service providers and ISVs to support disparate desktop services from a single interface," EMA analysts state in the report. The report adds that the recent announcement of support for vCloud Air makes the Cloud Workspace Suite "more attractive" to service providers that have already hosted customers on the VMware hybrid cloud solution but are reluctant to adopt Horizon Air Desktop-VMware's DaaS platform-since this is a platform against which they would directly compete.

IndependenceIT's Cloud Workspace Suite was designed specifically to help IT service providers and ISVs by aggregating the management and delivery of applications DaaS service solutions, and other IT services into a customizable workspace, which can be run on any hypervisor or endpoint device architecture. Administrators manage the platform via a unified, intuitive, easy-to-use web-based console and have the option of using the solution's native web application or the comprehensive API to manage multiple cloud or on-premise environments. This allows IT departments to create and manage unlimited instances of remote workspaces and hosted remote application environments without having to write code to the VMWare API or other platform APIs. To manage local and cloud-based resources, the solution also facilitates cloud-based access to premise servers, applications, and resources. As such, the solution enhances business productivity while dramatically reducing costs of operations.

"As detailed in our report, EMA believes IndependenceIT's attention to the service provider and ISV community along with its aggressive development roadmap for workspace enablement warrants recognition as a Vendor to Watch," said EMA research director Steve Brasen. "EMA recommends that any organization seeking to improve user productivity and workspace reliability adopt the Cloud Workspace Suite from one of its many channel partners."

EMA research has found that adoption rates for cloud-hosted desktop solutions have doubled over the last two years. This finding is based partly on the fact that leading vendors are focusing more on promoting their own cloud-hosting environments. Therefore, third-party service providers and ISVs have experienced reduced vendor support in delivering DaaS and other hosted desktop services to their customers. EMA reports that IndependenceIT has recognized this opportunity, making support of third-party service management providers a priority. "Having evolved from its roots as an independent service provider, IndependenceIT understands the needs of the service management vendor community," said the firm.
