National Organization Improves Employee Satisfaction with UltiPro for Human Capital Management

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced today that Lewis Tree Service, one of the largest providers of vegetation management services, is using UltiPro to achieve substantial cost and time savings and improve employee access to HR information.

Based in Rochester, New York, Lewis Tree Service provides vegetation management services to utilities. The company's nearly 3,500 employees are distributed across 26 states. Prior to UltiPro, Lewis Tree Service used a paper-intensive solution that lacked the functionality and storage space to support the company's growing business. Lewis Tree Service went live on UltiPro in October 2011, and shifted to a paperless operation that enhanced the employee experience.

"The elimination of paper from our weekly payroll alone-stamps, stuffing envelopes, printing paychecks-has saved us close to $70,000 per year," said JoAnn Zaccardo, director of human resources for Lewis Tree Service. "In addition, we have created enormous time savings by using the UltiPro Carrier Network to automate the entire process of moving benefits information across the organization, something that used to require paper transfers from the field to headquarters to our insurance carriers."

UltiPro's anywhere, anytime access is making an impact on Lewis Tree Service at headquarters and in the field. Zaccardo reports that UltiPro is helping to decrease distractions for the company's grounds people, trimmers, crew leaders, and general foremen.

"Because the vast majority of our people work in the field, UltiPro's mobile role-based access to personal information has transformed our employees' relationship with HR," said Zaccardo. "While many of our employees don't own a computer, almost all of them can access UltiPro through their smartphone to retrieve pay details, update personal information, and even complete the process for new-employee enrollment and benefits. UltiPro removes many administrative burdens from our hard-working, safety-conscious employees so they can be focused on their work."

Although UltiPro has already helped Lewis Tree Service achieve many of its goals for people operations, the company is enthusiastic about UltiPro's ability to address its future needs with ongoing innovation focused on helping companies put their employees first.

"I have complete confidence in Ultimate to stay on top of developments in human resources, from policy changes to process improvements," said Zaccardo. "Ultimate's focus on continually providing the best HCM solution gives me very valuable peace of mind."

"UltiPro's ability to streamline HCM operations delivers significant value to enterprise organizations with many employees who don't work behind a desk," said Greg Swick, global chief sales officer at Ultimate. "We are pleased that Lewis Tree Service is experiencing such a significant return on their UltiPro investment and that the solution is creating a better experience for the company's employees."
