AI, Secured: CrowdStrike's End-to-End Protection for AWS

By Greg Tavarez, TMCnet Editor  |  December 10, 2024

AWS has been a hot topic this week for us, specifically on Cloud Computing Magazine.

Fellow Cloud Computing Magazine Editor Alex Passett wrote an article about Rubrik’s expanded capabilities with AWS “to accelerate cyber resilience for joint customers by expediting the identification of and response to hidden threats, and by shortening the time to true cyber recovery.” Read more about that here.

Then, I penned an article about Atlassian (News - Alert) and AWS entering a SCA to “help drive the migration of millions of enterprise users from Atlassian’s Data Center business to Atlassian Cloud over a multi-year timeline.” Read more about that story here.

Now, for another cloud-related article featuring AWS:

CrowdStrike recently announced an expanded integration with AWS to help secure end-to-end AI innovation in the cloud. With the CrowdStrike Falcon cybersecurity platform, customers can confidently drive AI innovation on AWS with full visibility and security across the entire AI ecosystem – from LLMs to applications.

It makes sense that these two would integrate considering organizations face challenges (such as protecting workloads, AI models and sensitive data) as AI and cloud technology adoption becomes more of the norm.

CrowdStrike delivers capabilities that secure every stage of the software development lifecycle — from build, to runtime, to posture management — to protect AI deployments and sensitive data on AWS. Just as AWS relies on the Falcon platform to protect its infrastructure across the entire attack surface – from code to cloud and device to data – CrowdStrike secures the infrastructure powering the AI revolution with solutions like AI Security Posture Management, Falcon Data Protection and AI Red Team Services.

CrowdStrike has fortified its Falcon Cloud Security platform with cutting-edge AI container scanning and expanded Amazon SageMaker support. This allows organizations to safeguard their expansive cloud environments, particularly those bustling with AI development.

Integrating AI-powered container scanning for AWS means businesses can proactively identify vulnerabilities and misconfigurations during the development phase. This ensures that AI workloads are secure from the outset. The extended support for Amazon SageMaker provides data scientists and developers with the confidence to build, train and deploy ML models in production settings.

CrowdStrike has also integrated Falcon Identity Protection with AWS IAM Identity Center for a unified view of identities along with advanced threat detection and response to cloud-based identity attacks. The integration extends CrowdStrike’s existing protection for on-premises Active Directory and cloud-based identity providers like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, and will soon include SaaS (News - Alert) applications through CrowdStrike’s recent acquisition of Adaptive Shield.

“Global organizations increasingly build their cloud business and drive AI innovation using AWS – and secure it all with CrowdStrike,” said Daniel Bernard, Chief Business Officer, CrowdStrike. “As AWS’s cybersecurity platform of choice, we’re advancing protection across every attack path in the cloud, accelerating secure AI innovation and stopping identity-based attacks.”

CrowdStrike's integration with AWS provides a security solution that addresses the unique challenges associated with AI workloads. CrowdStrike is assisting organizations to innovate confidently, with that peace of mind that their AI initiatives are secure.
