New Cybersecurity Solution Tackles Undetected Malware

Malware is a tricky problem to handle. While its true cybersecurity experts have developed a number of useful protections and sophisticated algorithms to prevent hackers from moving in, counter measures to negate those efforts are becoming more apparent. As more businesses and enterprises continue to migrate data to the cloud, cybercriminals will continue to develop more creative ways to exploit this through attacks that slip under the radar.

To help organizations uncover undetected exploits, cybersecurity firm Prevailion has released a new solution called Omega that exposes previously missed malware, ransomware, or similar programs that cause technological havoc for business operations.

“As a growing remote workforce has fueled investment in cloud infrastructure, threat actors are using the ‘black box’ nature of these SaaS (News - Alert) deployments to stay hidden from modern security tools and to proliferate ransomware and other attacks,” said Karim Hijazi, CEO of Prevailion. “The current methodology for monitoring and securing cloud workflows and remote workers paints an incomplete picture that limits an organization’s ability to improve its overall security posture and reduce its risk.”

By consolidating and analyzing metadata from a wide range of sources, the solution is able to recognize threats that would normally pass as normal activity. The solution also differs from common security programs by analyzing data outside of cloud infrastructure, offering a comprehensive approach that monitors all fronts.

As online attackers continue to devise more elaborate strategies to hack cloud storage, it is critical to have thorough preventative measures to ensure encryptions and data heists are stopped prematurely.
