Maintaining a superior user experience is easier said than done when the demand for network capacity continues to increase. This forces businesses to deploy and scale their networks at a fast pace just to support new services and applications.

There lies the challenge. Businesses need instant and secure access to cloud-based applications from their edge locations. Provisioning edge connectivity that is secure, private and highly performant to the cloud is a complicated task that is also expensive. At the same time, the visibility and control required for cloud, multicloud or hybrid workloads are limited or unavailable with conventional solutions.

The ability to consolidate or connect on-premises locations to local points of presence while providing secure, performant connectivity to business applications running in multiple cloud environments is essential. The solution is for Aviatrix to deliver Aviatrix Edge software across at least 25 of Equinix's global IBX data centers.

“IT leaders are flipping traditional thinking from ‘connect on-prem to the cloud’ to ‘extend the cloud out to the edge,’” said Michael Welts, chief marketing officer at Aviatrix. “Our joint solution delivers on that vision.”

The combined solution leverages Equinix (News - Alert)'s Network Edge and delivers a consistent architecture and operational model in each public cloud and across the Equinix fabric. Aviatrix Edge intelligently routes traffic across multiple clouds with the highest performance IPsec encryption available.

This deployment model ensures low latency, enterprise-class visibility, geographic redundancy and high availability, ensuring edge workloads perform optimally. Lengthy delays and decades-old physical hardware are no longer an issue when interconnecting hybrid, single-cloud or multicloud environments with Aviatrix Edge on Network Edge.

By leveraging Equinix Fabric, customers access thousands of clouds and networks, including Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Platform Cloud Interconnect.

In addition to high-speed encryption, Aviatrix on Network Edge extends multicloud visibility and provides the control and security enterprises require via the world's largest number of cloud on-ramps.

“With Aviatrix Edge software now integrated as a native option on Network Edge, customers can quickly spin up robust, encrypted multicloud connectivity in minutes and gain visibility and security controls that are critical for hybrid cloud deployments,” said Zachary Smith, global head of edge infrastructure services at Equinix.

Aviatrix Edge is available as a service on the Equinix Network Edge marketplace.
