The Intersection of Interconnection: CoreSite Releases Findings on Cloud Computing Trends

Across key North American markets, hybrid IT services provider CoreSite – originally a portfolio company known as CRG (News - Alert) West – provides a suite of secure, reliable, and high-performance cloud-enabled data center and interconnection solutions. CoreSite also supports enterprises with colocation services, enabling them (in addition to network providers and digital platforms) to build and deploy custom hybrid IT strategies that monetize and future-proof operations.

Recently, CoreSite (News - Alert) announced the publication of its new 2023 State of the Data Center Report. Therein, CoreSite examines the latest data center and cloud computing trends, as well as strategies, industry requirements, and other quantitative findings.

Speaking of, its top findings include the following:

  • 94% of senior IT leaders and decision-makers stated that native, direct public cloud interconnection is a “must have” in 2023. (i.e. for enhanced performance, security, cost-saving measures, etc.)

  • 92% are currently considering moving their critical workloads from the public cloud to colocation in order to, quote, “accelerate revenue growth and further support needs for technologies like AI/ML.”

  • 97% of surveyed CIOs have already implemented (or actively have plans to implement) a hybrid cloud model

  • Security was ranked as the most important factor in choosing a colocation provider. (i.e. ranked higher than scalability and total cost of ownership, for example, though those were also considered high-value targets, as well)

This all makes sense, given the increasingly complex digital business demands we’re currently seeing. These require strong infrastructure and purpose-built solutions for optimized custom experiences and on-demand scalability.

Per John Gallant, an enterprise consulting director with feedback on CoreSite’s survey:

“Businesses must closely scrutinize the value of their technology investments to ensure that their decisions will deliver on enterprise objectives, helping them gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. This new CoreSite research illustrates that both IT and – more broadly – business leaders are looking for more reliable connectivity, increased securities, and more effective ways to accelerate real revenue growth through digital transformation and IT infrastructure modernization.”

“This survey’s findings,” Gallant added, “demonstrate that colocation is being leveraged more and more to deploy critical workloads such AI/ML, Internet of Things (IoT), and business intelligence (BI). We are also seeing a resurgence of concerns around physical security and a focus on driving new revenue that is leading 2023 respondents to really consider colocation.”
