An Uptime Institute study showed the financial toll IT outages can inflict on businesses is concerning. A large number of organizations are experiencing significant costs associated with downtime. And, according to the report,16% of respondents reported that their most recent outage resulted in losses exceeding $1 million.
The financial impact doesn't stop there – over half of participants in the study also indicated that their most recent outage caused damages surpassing $100,000. There is a need for businesses to prioritize IT resiliency.
Automating key IT operations is one solution. By automating routine tasks and procedures, organizations potentially mitigate human error. Additionally, automation ensures the continuous local availability of critical applications and data. This localized approach minimizes downtime and its associated financial repercussions to allow businesses to operate with greater continuity and peace of mind.
Additionally, the increased complexity of SASE, SD-WAN, SaaS (News - Alert) and UCaaS service usage further challenges ensuring high-quality digital experiences at remote sites. Traditional methods are ineffective and time-consuming. Since IT teams often have limited resources at remote locations, they require instrumentation that provides a combination of synthetic transaction capabilities and deep packet inspection to prevent visibility gaps and determine the root cause quickly.
NETSCOUT, which protects the connected world from cyberattacks and performance and availability disruptions through the company’s unique visibility platform and solutions, is aware of this. That is why NETSCOUT recently launched a new line of products called Business Edge Observability.
The new suite includes the nGenius Edge Sensor and Remote InfiniStreamNG solutions, designed to provide IT teams with visibility into the performance of remote locations. With an increasing number of critical applications and services being deployed at edge locations like stores, factories and hospitals, NetScout (News - Alert) emphasizes the importance of proactive and in-depth monitoring to mitigate business risks.
The Business Edge Observability offerings use NetScout's patented Adaptive Services Intelligence technology alongside synthetic testing and automatic decryption to deliver complete visibility that scales to meet the needs of any essential business edge. By functioning as the "eyes and ears" of IT teams for remote sites, the nGenius Edge Sensors and Remote InfiniStreamNGs aim to reduce troubleshooting time and expedite issue resolution.
“Consider the intricacies of hospitals,” said Bruce Kelley, Chief Technology Officer, NETSCOUT. “When electronic patient records, or imaging and radiology applications, are unavailable, the impact extends beyond the downtime cost. Hospital applications are business-critical, supporting patient safety, patient treatment, customer services, and the overall trust of the institution. A service disruption related to performance or security is more than a major business issue as patient care is on the line.”
