Orca Security Protects Government Agencies in the Cloud, Thanks to StateRAMP Authorization

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers report "Capitals in the Cloud Part II" revealed a surge in overall cloud adoption, with nearly 90% of state CIOs reporting an acceleration of cloud use across various operational areas. Interestingly, the report highlights security as the primary driver for this migration, with 75% of respondents identifying it as the most crucial benefit.

However, the report also acknowledges the challenges associated with cloud adoption. One of the biggest hurdles is the lack of skilled personnel to manage and maintain these cloud-based systems.

Enter Orca Security.

Orca is a frontrunner of agentless cloud security trusted by enterprises globally. Orca makes cloud security possible for enterprises moving to and scaling in the cloud with its patented SideScanning technology and Unified Data Model.

The Orca Cloud Security Platform also delivers comprehensive coverage and visibility of all risks across the cloud. With continuous first-to-market innovations and expertise, the Orca Platform ensures security teams quickly identify and remediate risks to keep their businesses secure.

Further cementing its objective to secure enterprises and organizations, Orca recently announced the Orca Cloud Security Platform was authorized for the State Risk and Authorized Management Program, or StateRAMP.

StateRAMP is a voluntary cybersecurity assessment framework used by state, local and education agencies to validate the security of cloud service offerings. Its evaluation process provides a standardized approach to security risk management, assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring to ensure that SLED institutions can adopt cloud-based products and services securely.

By using the StateRAMP Authorized Product List, state and local governments streamline their vendor selection process and eliminate the need for conducting their own audits. This means that they can quickly find pre-approved vendors that satisfy their security requirements.

Orca’s recent StateRAMP authorized security platform can play a vital role in addressing this skill gap. By providing a secure cloud environment, Orca allows state governments to get the most out of the benefits of the cloud while mitigating the risks associated with a lack of in-house expertise.

“We’re proud to become StateRAMP Authorized, which represents valuable assurance for state and local governments looking to innovate securely in the cloud without compromising the privacy of citizens and the integrity of their operations,” said Gil Geron, co-founder and CEO of Orca Security. “With complete coverage and risk detection across the entire cloud estate, Orca empowers the public sector to effectively prioritize and remediate risks, ease compliance efforts and adhere to the strictest cybersecurity standards.”

The achievement builds on Orca’s FedRAMP “In Process” status earned in August 2023, together meeting the highest standards for helping state and federal agencies protect sensitive government data through improved security visibility across multi-cloud environments.
