Most people may be familiar in some way with a certain cloud that is around us at all times. It is discreet and unnoticable in nature and has so many benefits for everyone from a business level to everyday living. Its contribution to many areas of society is immense. We are talking about cloud computing!

Cloud computing offers very useful and valuable traits and benefits, some of which we will break down here.

High Speed and Unlimited Storage

Cloud computing enables communication and connectivity across all possible devices anywhere at all times. It does this so seamlessly that you would shudder if you are able to visualize this monstrous web of connectivity that is powering almost all human activities at very high speed. The cloud and the computing that supports and moves it act as an unlimited storage silo of data and information that is accessible by anyone who connects to it legitimately. This includes all the possible devices, tools, instruments and many other equipment. Communication devices like smartphones, computers, tablets, smart TVs, game consoles, digital cameras, wrist watches and ebook readers can all be part of the cloud. They can save and retrieve data, files and apps to and from the cloud at ease, eliminating the cost of saving and managing those data and files locally.

With this, the enabling power of cloud computing for businesses is without limit. For this reason, it is very important that cloud computing providers are highly trustworthy professional entities like IBM Cloud and others.

Security, Backup and Data Restoration

The internet is fraught with criminal activities like cyber fraud, hacking, identity theft, and a host of others. Businesses and individuals are always on the alert to keep their systems and data well-protected against such criminals. Here’s where cloud computing has been very effective with protecting everyone's data stored in the cloud. For example, if the systems of a business are breached, data can be restored from the cloud because all data from the business is backed up by the cloud provider. DDoS attacks can also be better mitigated by relying on the cloud.

Scalability and Growth

Businesses rely on the facilities provided by cloud computing to develop their systems and processes to help them scale up and grow. Cloud services provide processing power, capacity, and SaaS (News - Alert) and other tools to facilitate integration of tasks and processes, and the expansion businesses need to scale up, at much lower financial and manpower costs.

In effect, cloud computing saves time and money for businesses, makes life less hassle, and the internet much safer for users.
