Fortinet Unleashes New Switches for Secure and Connected Campus Networks

Global cybersecurity solutions provider Fortinet unveiled two new campus switches, the FortiSwitch 600 and 2000, designed to meet the increasing connectivity and security needs of modern campuses. The newly announced switches offer high performance, embedded intelligence, and seamless integration with Fortinet (News - Alert)'s AIOps management tool and FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services.

Today's modern campus environments require more bandwidth. This is being driven by the adoption of next-generation wireless access points and traditional switching solutions struggle to keep up with these demands. The result is network bottlenecks and reduced user experience.  Now with the FortiSwitch 600 and 2000 it is possible to have secure, scalable, and high-performance switching solutions.

“Fortinet has delivered secure switching solutions for 20 years, making it uniquely positioned to empower customers with a comprehensive secure connectivity solution for the entire LAN,” said John Maddison, Chief Marketing Officer and EVP, Product Strategy at Fortinet. “We are the only vendor offering fully converged wired and wireless networking and AI-powered security through a single platform, providing visibility and security from the moment a user or device connects to the network.”

The FortiSwitch 600 series is a multi-gigabit secure campus access switch, supporting up to 5GE access and 25GE uplinks. It intelligently manages traffic from next-gen access points to critical destinations, ensuring optimal network performance.

The FortiSwitch 2000 series is a campus core switch and is capable of handling larger and more complex campus environments. It works by aggregating high-performance access switches, such as the FortiSwitch 600.

Both switches also come with dual power supplies to ensure the redundancy required by today's high-performance campuses.

Customers using FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls as a switching controller can simplify their network setup and get access to advanced security services like malware protection, intrusion prevention, sandboxing, and web filtering via FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services.

Additionally, all FortiSwitch models work seamlessly with FortiAIOps, an AI tool that offers real-time insights into network problems and that automates manual tasks.
