Netskope Now Provides Seamless, Localized Security Service Edge Worldwide

Netskope, a provider of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), has announced it achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first vendor to offer a truly global Security Service Edge (SSE) with a seamless, localized experience. The company said it successfully rolled out Localization Zones to its NewEdge security private cloud, ensuring a localized user experience for 220 countries and territories, covering every non-embargoed UN member state.

While the transition to cloud-based web proxies or Security Service Edge solutions brings substantial advantages in terms of enhanced security coverage and reduced management overhead, maintaining a consistent localized user experience has been a persistent challenge for enterprises. Users often encounter disruptions such as websites and applications serving incorrect content or potentially appearing in a different language, all based on the location of the web security service or SSE data center (i.e. rather than the user's location). In some instances, entire websites or applications can be blocked.

With the introduction of 205 Localization Zones, complementing its existing network of full compute data centers in 71 regions, Netspoke can now provide native support for per-customer Dedicated Egress IPs, eliminating the need for performance-degrading backhauling.

The Localization Zones, initially introduced in February 2023, also provide customers with a seamless digital experience similar to a direct-to-net connection, regardless of their geographic location.

The company said it has also undertaken significant enhancements to its platform which includes 40% growth in the global footprint of regions powered by full compute data centers, offering a comprehensive SSE stack.

Netskope said its presence has expanded notably in Mainland China, ensuring fast and reliable access to both domestic and international applications and it has more than doubled its global Management Plane footprint, addressing data privacy and compliance requirements in regions such as the United States, the European Union, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

"With NewEdge, customers aren't forced to make trade-offs when it comes to security, user experience, and performance," said Jason Hofmann, SVP of Platform Strategy and Architecture at Netskope.

"Our customers benefit from something that no other vendor can match — a user experience that is indistinguishable from direct-to-net for virtually every user on the planet, not only from a throughput and latency point-of-view, which was a milestone we achieved a few years ago but now also from a content localization standpoint. Whether working from a hotel in Barbados, an airport in Bahrain, a branch office in Brazil, a factory in Bangladesh, or a home in Belgium, the user experience is preserved. This holds true even for the smallest countries in the world — countries whose entire populations could fit in a small football stadium — such as Tuvalu or Palau."
