Veza Bolsters Enterprise File Security with Google Drive Integration

Identity security company Veza has taken a significant step in addressing the escalating challenges of ransomware, breaches, and insider threats by announcing a new integration with Google (News - Alert) Drive.

In a landscape where identity-related breaches are rampant, with over 80% of organizations experiencing such incidents in the last year according to Gartner (News - Alert), Veza is aiming to empower CIOs and CISOs so they can proactively secure access to enterprise files and mitigate potential risks.

The new integration with Google Drive, a widely used file storage and synchronization service, allows Veza customers to enhance the security of files such as documents and spreadsheets stored in Google Drive.

This milestone marks Veza's achievement of 200 integrations, providing Intelligent Access across the enterprise and establishing itself as a leader in comprehensive coverage.

Google Drive is a crucial component of Google Workspace and serves 9 million paying customers and over 3 billion users. Challenges in managing access to sensitive corporate information continue since access can be granted through Google Workspace groups or third-party identity platforms. This makes it challenging for security teams to precisely determine "who can take what action on what data," and could leave files exposed to unauthorized access.

With Veza's Access Control Platform, Google Workspace customers can identify over-privileged users in Google Drive quickly. The platform also facilitates monitoring for misconfigurations, such as drives accessible to the public or guest users, in real time. This proactive approach reduces the risk of damage from compromised or misused identities and streamlines compliance by automating user access reviews and recertifications.

Veza customers also gain the ability to discover all entities with access to drives and folders, monitor and receive alerts for misconfigurations as they happen, and automate access reviews for Google Drive while assigning review tasks to the respective owner.

“With Veza, we are taking on cybersecurity’s biggest challenge: who can take what action on what data. Traditional identity tools of IAM, IGA, and PAM have blind spots when it comes to identity access,” said Tarun Thakur, CEO and Co-founder of Veza. “What matters is securing access to data, especially as sensitive data is stored in an ever-widening array of systems, including Google Drive. By deeply understanding the system-specific permissions as the true picture of access, Veza modernizes identity across cloud infrastructure, SaaS (News - Alert) apps, data lakes, on-premise apps, and custom apps. With Veza, our customers de-risk the breach.”
