Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) is a well-known cloud computing platform that most are familiar with, as it provides a wide range of cloud services to help individuals and organizations build and manage their applications and infrastructure in a flexible and scalable manner.
Paying for those services is costly to some businesses, though. Still, they don’t necessarily have to be wallet-breaking costs, especially with offerings such as Reserved Instances, or RIs, and Savings Plans.
RIs serve as a game-changer for workloads with predictable or steady-state usage patterns. By reserving capacity on Amazon EC2 instances, users enjoy discounts compared to on-demand instance pricing. With RI's regional-level scoping and instance flexibility, users gain the freedom to balance workload demands and seamlessly adapt to changing instance sizes within the same family.
Savings Plans provide users with automatic savings on eligible compute usage across different instance families, sizes and AWS regions. By committing to a one-year or three-year term, users unlock cost benefits. The flexibility of Savings Plans allows users to apply savings to compute usage that matches the attributes of the plan.
Those pricing options look beneficial on paper. The reality? It is often difficult for businesses to predict their usage and make such long-term or large-volume commitments. Striking a balance between the cost of obtaining new resources and maintaining operational flexibility, while minimizing cloud waste, has always been a challenging trade-off.
CloudKeeper is tackling this challenge with the launch of CloudKeeper Auto, a Zero-touch AI-based AWS reservation management platform. The solution is designed to help organizations optimize their AWS EC2 reservations, while also providing cloud cost savings.
CloudKeeper is an AWS Cost Optimization and FinOps solution that offers savings, software, and services. CloudKeeper AZ, for example, is a comprehensive cloud cost optimization solution that provides savings, software, and services, all bundled into one. However, not all AWS users could benefit from CloudKeeper AZ due to concerns with billing transfer and their contractual obligations toward programs like AWS EDP.
CloudKeeper Auto takes away all manual dependencies on RI management and delivers substantial savings with automated buying/selling of RIs on the secondary marketplace, guaranteed buyback of RI reservations made through the platform and risk-free coverage with no commitments and no billing transfer. CloudKeeper charges only 18% of the total EC2 savings as a platform fee.
"CloudKeeper Auto is capable of delivering superior and sustainable cost savings to all kinds of businesses across the world, completely risk-free," said Deepak Mittal, CEO, CloudKeeper. “We hope to expand our reach to a broader set of AWS consumers, with a stronger arsenal of features."
Using CloudKeeper Auto, organizations can buy AWS compute instances on-demand, at three-year Reserved Instance pricing. Notably, the solution does not require any type of volume or term commitment from the user.
