AWS Invests $100 Million in Generative AI Innovation Center

There exists a pattern in many of today’s Amazon-dominated industries: Amazon will jump, and businesses will either immediately jump as well or – in countless cases – they’ll ask “How high?” Amazon’s jump was, assess what’s best for their business, and then make a similar jump on their own terms in order to compete, form a partnership, etc.

Let’s relate another topic to Amazon now; a topic concerning an innovation that, in its own right, has leapt extremely far in the last six to eight months:

Generative AI.

Following a unique timeline to date, generative artificial intelligence has come a long way (i.e. OpenAI’s ChatGPT being one of the biggest-ever developments). Generative AI’s leaps have been noticed by nearly every top global business, and it almost goes without saying that Amazon has been one of them. (Clearly.)

So, Amazon. Generative AI.

That brings us up to speed for the following news:

Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) announced that it is investing an astonishing $100 million in its new AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, a program designed to help Amazon’s customers successfully build and deploy generative AI-based solutions.

Backed by more than 25 years of deep investments in developing AI technologies, this Innovation Center is expected to connect AI and ML experts with customers around the world to help them envision, design, launch and maintenance new generative AI products, services, workflows and more.

Take, for instance, Twilio, Ryanair, Lonely Planet or Highspot. All of these are engaging with the Innovation Center.

According to Kurt Berglund, Vice President of Science at Highspot:

“Highspot is obsessive about helping our customers drive efficient growth by delivering capabilities that unlock new levels of sales productivity. The potential that generative AI brings is huge, and at Highspot we're leveraging it to transform sales enablement and to continue leveling up the value we give our customers. The AWS Generative AI Innovation Center is providing us with novel solutions and creative guidance for some of the most complex challenges and opportunities involved in bringing generative AI workloads to life, and at scale.”

Through no-cost workshops, engagements and training sessions, AWS will help those interested in imagining (and then fleshing out) the scope of valuable generative AI use cases. AWS and AWS Partner Network experts will assist in selecting the right models, the right paths when it comes to navigating technical and business-centric challenges, develop cutting-edge proofs-of-concept, and map out what scalable opportunities are within reach.

Generative AI services and infrastructure from AWS that will help customers include:

Per Matt Garman, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Global Services at AWS:

“Amazon has more than 25 years of AI experience, and more than 100,000 customers have used AWS AI and ML services to address some of their biggest opportunities and obstacles alike. Now, customers around the globe are hungry for guidance about how to get started quickly and securely with generative AI.”

“The Generative AI Innovation Center,” Garman continued, “is part of our goal to help every organization leverage AI by providing versatile and cost-effective generative AI services for the enterprise, alongside our strong team of generative AI experts to take full advantage of all this new technology has to offer. Together, alongside our global community of partners, we’re working with business leaders across every industry to help them maximize the impact of generative AI in their organizations, creating value for their customers, employees, and bottom line. That’s what this Innovation Center is all about.”
