Fortinet and Wiz Fortify Cloud Workload Environments

More than 50% of enterprises will use industry cloud platforms to accelerate their business initiatives by 2027, according to a report by Gartner. With businesses increasingly relying on cloud-based services for their operations, it is even more important to secure their cloud infrastructure and workloads.

Cyberattackers target cloud resources, and a breach in cloud security can expose sensitive data, disrupt operations, tarnish reputations and result in financial losses. In fact, the global average cost of a data breach in 2023 is $4.45 million, a 15% increase over three years, according to IBM.

Proactive investment in cloud security is non-negotiable. Still, businesses need help in their cloud security strategy. Two companies doing that: Fortinet (News - Alert) and Wiz.

Fortinet is dedicated to securing people, devices and data globally. They offer a vast portfolio of over 50 enterprise-grade products trusted by over half a million customers. Fortinet prioritizes cybersecurity education through the Fortinet Training Institute and provides top-rated protection and actionable threat intelligence via FortiGuard Labs, leveraging advanced machine learning and AI technologies.

Wiz specializes in securing all aspects of organizations' cloud operations. Wiz empowers numerous global organizations to swiftly detect and mitigate significant risks within their cloud environments.

Now, the two companies are in a partnership that sees Wiz join the Fortinet Fabric-Ready Technology Alliance Partner Program and Fortinet join the Wiz Integration Program. The Fortinet Fabric-Ready Technology Alliance Partner Program brings together a community of global technology partners with specialized expertise and makes available resources and tools to facilitate integration. The Wiz Integration Program is an expanding suite of security integrations that help improve an organization’s cloud security posture, orchestrate workflows and improve the ROI of the technology stack today, and in the future.

Through the partnership, the two companies have jointly developed an integrated solution to help enterprises protect their cloud workload environments with network security from Fortinet and cloud security from Wiz.

“The new integration will add value for our joint enterprise customers and enable them to seamlessly protect cloud workload environments,” said John Maddison, Chief Marketing Officer and EVP, Product Strategy at Fortinet.

The new Fortinet integration takes advantage of the deep visibility that Wiz has into cloud environments and allows the Fortinet Security Fabric to ingest these insights to automate security enforcement to seamlessly protect cloud environments for joint customers. As a result, FortiGate VM and FortiGate CNF can either block or allow certain traffic to and from virtual machines running in cloud environments.

The partnership also lets Fortinet continue to expand its Open Ecosystem. Wiz CNAPP capabilities help organizations gain visibility into their entire cloud environment, so they can prioritize and manage risk. Fortinet FortiGate VM Next-Generation Firewall virtual appliance and FortiGate CNF cloud-native firewall deliver consistent cloud network security to protect cloud infrastructure and workloads.

“Combining forces allows us to deliver significant value: empowering security teams so they can meet diverse needs quickly, driving more value across the organization and adopting a new cloud operating model,” said Raaz Herzberg, Vice President, Product Strategy at Wiz.

The Fortinet-Wiz solution is suited for enterprises and commercial customers that are looking for a comprehensive, feature-rich solution. Fortinet also offers additional cloud-native solutions that are lightweight and optimized for SMBs that are also integrated with the Fortinet Security Fabric.
